Opuntia Engelmannii Var. Linguiformis - Cow's Tongue Prickly Pear Cactus - 5 Seeds

5 SEEDS Ahardy cactus native to the northern parts of the Coahuila state of Mexico, southern Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. An interesting species with slender 2-foot long cow-tongue like pads, displaying yellow flowers in springtime. They can reach up to 6 feet high and are protected by clusters of short yellow spines. This particular species may be the same described by U.S. Department of Agriculture (1900-1920) David Griffiths (1867-1935) in 1908 south of China Grove, Texas. Opuntia engelmannii var. linguiformis has however, been used in cultivar since that time and can be widely found naturalized, growing outside of its native habitat.
