Garcinia intermedia is a species of tropical American tree which produces tasty fruit.
In English it is known as the lemon drop mangosteen In Spanish it is called mameyito.
The tree is generally propagated from seeds, though it can be grafted.
The tree may fruit after two Years.
The fruits are smooth spheres about an inch in diameter with a thin yellow, orange or red rind around a white pulp.
They are edible and have an appealing sweet and sour taste.
It is usually eaten out of hand, though can be used for drinks, jams and jellies.
