Uvaria grandiflora is a sturdy climbing shrub with large leaves and stunning, dark red flowers followed by curious, clustered, finger-like, edible fruits that are bright yellow. The stems can be up to 10 metres long. The plant is used locally, being harvested from the wild for its edible fruit, medicinal uses and stems, which can be used like rattans.
